Intelligence, system thinking and project development on environmental stakes




Frederic de Hemptinne is a senior life-science engineer (University of Louvain, 1987). After a first experience as research engineer on water treatment, he has worked for 10 years as project consultant on water and waste management topics in Western Europe and the EU Accession Countries. This took place either on behalf of EU institutions and national authorities. In 2002, he joined Eureau, the European Union of National Associations of Water Suppliers and Waste Water Services, and was appointed in 2004 as Secretary-General. Since 2007, Frédéric has been developing the Sustainable Synergies Group as intelligence gathering and project assistance consultancy specialized in EU environmental policy and funding programs. In August 2014, Frédéric is going to strat a one-year contract with the Belgian Development Agency as technical assistant in the area of waste management matters in Algeria.

In parallel, Frederic has invested a lot of efforts to develop information gathering and system thinking capacities.  He obtained in 2000 a master degree in strategic information management (SCIP & Gembloux and Mons-Hainault Universities) and has attended since 2008 a vocational training course on system analysis at IFEAS and GIROS. In 2012 he also attended a e-learning training session on model thinking that was organized by the University of Michigan, USA.
